Hi,

Is it possible to config DNN to let a user account can login once?
If other sessions (same IP) or connections (different IP) try to login using the same account, he/she will be prompted that this account has login in other places. Or he/she still can login but the other login will force to logout (as MSN does).

Reagrds,
Ricky.

Such functionality, although entirely desireable, is not available in DNN. There are some discussions on the issue here and there.

Ricky,

As mentioned above this is not something that is currently supported, however, you could incorporate it into the core if you needed.  But that would affect your ability to upgrade in the future.

Well, you could set up your own login module. Consider this pseudocode:

1. Verify correct login info.

If incorrect - usual stuff, if correct,

2. Grab user IP from headers and check if username already exists in a table of some sort with a different IP associated with it.

If yes and time is within a specified interval (say 1 hour), show message and refuse login or ask for some other info to force the login.

If IP is not different or time interval is longer than  specified, save username, IP and time and proceed with login routine.

********

One of the problems that exist is that you have no way of forcing users to actually logoff. So, he/she can just close browser or simply walk away and create a possible issue with this login thing above.

While this is not currently supported, the next scheduled release, 4.6, will include a re-architecting of the authentication system to better isolate the authentication code into a set of Authentication providers.  With this change it will be fairly easy to create a custom authentication provider based on the built in DotNetNuke implementation.  By building it as a custom authentication provider you can avoid future upgrade problems.  While this will not solve your problem today, it will give you something to think about as to how much effort to spend customizing the current platform, knowing that you will need to redo your efforts for 4.6.
