I'm currently getting this error:

"The default authentication provider specified in web.config is not configured properly. Authentication settings are disabled." when I try to configure my Authentication settings. I've looked over the web.config and all looks fine. followed most of the stickies in this forum, but can't even get to the first step.

04.05.03

I checked the eventviewer and saw no errors in regards to dotnetnuke. Thanks in advance

I found the answer to my own problem after lots of reading.

Web.config

Set <trust> to "Full" and then it would work.

I followed the walk throughs, but now it's a different problem.

After setting the windowssignon.aspx to use window auth and

After uncommenting out the <add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" />

when i go to my DNN site, it prompts me to login. But no matter what login i use, it fails. I was able to authenticate on the authentication page just fine. Can someone help?

Is the Authenication line commented out in your web.config? I'm going by memory here but I think if it's uncommented before you try to setup authentication you'll get that error.

Most likely if you enter domain\username and your password it'll work. Is this happening from a computer on the domain? Is the DNN site in the trusted or intranet site list?

I tried to put in my domain\username & password, but it rejects it all the time.

Do I need to set the users to allow me or something? like in a typical web.config w/ windows auth?

I am hitting my localserver from my own machine on IE 7. The DNN site is added to the trusted sites.
