I have a table within sql database that is only 9 columns (columns 1-3 UserID, ModuleID, ID & columns 4-9 Stored Information)
At any rate, rows are being input one at a time.

Other than where the data is being input via GridView1, I am trying to get a label to display calculation.

I have been told that doing calculations within sql, is not advised. Due to peformance and security reasons.
So I am looking for solution which will retrieve sql data values and analyze calculations and place back within .ascx for display.

So what is best for doing calculations?
Can it be outside of sql, but still local to module?
Can I expect to calculate using YOUR suggested solution and display within a label w/o storing in sql?
Can a calculation ever be calculated using YOUR suggested solution and be stored in sql, and updated when value changes?

Feedback Appreciated,

Well depending on what you are doing, using SQL might be the best way to go, but that depends on your method.

Now, one thing that I do is to create additional, read only properties for my "calculated" values on my info objects.

So for example in my course gradebook I have a points given property and a points possible property that are populated from the database.  I also have a percentReceived read-only property that actually calculates and formats the percentage complete.  I do this because I don't need to know this value all the time, therefore it is best to simply calculate it when it is needed.
