Ok I have a weired problem. I downloaded SQL Server Express Edition to work in DNN 4.x. (I had SQL Server 2000 installed and still do) but the only thing that I see in Sart Menu is:

> Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  >  Configuration Tools

    1. SQL Server Configuration Manager
    2. SQL Server Error and Usage Reporting
    3. SQL Server Surface Area Configuration

I have no way to see my Database that I created using MS Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition.

Is this how it is suppose to be or am I missing Enterprise Magager kinda thing ? How would I work with the database if I can't see them? Please Help. Thanks.

I posted pretty much the same question a couple of weeks ago and got no responses.

My assumption is that the Express Edition backend is configured to directly interact with the .mdf file rather than via the DBEngine / Enterprise Manager (hence using such a radically different connectionstring in the web.config).

If anyone would like to confirm or deny this it would be helpful.

If anyone could also offer advice/a method to administer the Express backend that would be nice too.

:)

You can still use command line OSQL or the new SQLCMD tools, but you are probably going to want to use a thing called MSSSMSE CTP. There is a new (20/01/06) version here:

Hope this is useful.
