Hi, we have the following code snippet, but somehow, the last line is returning Object reference not found.  Any clue how that is possible? (DNNPortalID is our internal method to improve code readability, ReportError is just an error logging method)

DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController rc = new DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController();
if (DNNPortalID == null) ReportError();
if (rc == null) ReportError();
if (uid == null) ReportError();
if (rc.GetRoleByName(DNNPortalID,"site admin") == null) ReportError();
if (rc.GetRoleByName(DNNPortalID, "site admin").RoleID == null) ReportError();

Now, the weird thing is that (a) ReportError is never called, and (b) in the last line of code, in addition to ReportError() not being called, instead an exception is actually being raised, though how that's happening is beyond me.    Any insight here would be very very helpful.

thanks,
jasen

Silly question but what happens if you do:

DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleInfo ri = rc.GetRoleByName(DNNPortalID,"site admin");

and more to the point what is the content on ri when you do
