I downloaded the 4.0.2 Source zip file and unpacked it. However I can't find the code-behind source code (such as DesktopModules\Events\Events.ascx.vb) for the desktopmodules. Am I missing something?

I don't have it here in front of me, but I think that would be either in the app_code or in a zip file.

You won't find the code behind for the Desktop Modules (as they are provided as "Install" versions with precompiled code.)  You can get the Source packages for the modules separately, but bear in mind that the core modules were built on .NET 1.1 and have not been ported to .NET 2.0 yet.
