Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

Welcome to the DNN Community Forums, your preferred source of online community support for all things related to DNN.
In order to participate you must be a registered DNNizen

And here's another way . . . In one of my sites I wanted to use the label control on a dark background (see http://www.thegranitefactory.co.uk/On... ) and although the little question mark was fine, the GIF image is designed to be used on a white background, so it looked awful on black. The solution I came up with was to copy the existing labelcontrol.ascx file to my module folder (i.e. /DesktopModules/MyModule/MyLabelControl.ascx) then edit the ascx to point to my preferred image. Now in my module ascx I use <%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" TagName="Label" Src="MyLabelControl.ascx" %> to register the control then use it like normal.

The Inherits attribute in the ascx Control directive wires up the same behaviour as the real labelcontrol so it's just like the real thing, only with a different image.

Although this approach doesn't actually modify any core code (so there's no risk of losing it when you do a DNN upgrade) if the DNN team decide to refactor the labelcontrol the copy will be out of sync - but it's just a label control and I don't see any major functionality changes happening any time soon :)

Regards,
Rhys
