Dear All

I want to provide a "Community" page on my DNN 4.5.3 site that allows any registered user to browse around a list of all users registered with the site and look at their basic DNN User profile information such as Name, Display namd and Profile.

I note that in the User "Manage Profile" page each attribute has a "Visibility" setting (Public, Private, Admin) but can find no built in controls that allow me to simply deliver user information to anyone other than the Admin/Host.

I know that DNN Fusion provide the MYProfile tool which addresses some of these issues but they do not release their source code and I have quite a bit of extended properties and bespoke code I need to hook into.

So my questions are: -

1) What do the "Visibility" settings on the user's "Manage Profile" page actually do?  If I set my DisplayName as "Public" what does that means?

2) Are there any other controls/options/suggestions out there for delivering this sort of "community" type functionality within DNN?

Hey Kevin,

Have you seen the Smart-Thinker Modules? They are purpose built for social networks/community sites - check out PokerDIY for an implementation example. Here is a profile example.

Thanks for the suggestion, in the end I built the functionality we needed bespoke anyway.

Thanks again, as I said I went with a bespoke solution of my own.

Id be interested if anyone can shed some light on my question 1) above though.

Kevin
