HI, I have a hosted server that has an unknown version of DNN already installed. AFAIK it doesn't work/isn't setup properly. (Install date 7-31-2006)
I want to have the latest version and have it working properly.
Do I try to copy new install files right over the existing files, then try to run the Install page? Second, will it take care of upgrading the database?
Or, do I very, very carefully delete each DNN folder, file, table, and sp? ( a toughie, given that I do not know which those are, and it's on the root) so that I can do a clean fresh install?
I cannot do a complete wipe because there are other files and database objects that are NOT related to DNN and cannot be deleted or they will bring other live sites down.
Is there still a place to set a DB prefix for DNN db objects? (can each table have "DNN_" in front of it?)
Finally, related question: since this hosting account must hold DNN and Non-DNN sites, should DNN be installed in the root or in a folder?
Thank you.
