OK - I have dug through the threads to no avail.  I have just downloaded all of the 4.5 files.  I tried the manul install and it faile don my vista machine, so I tried it on my xp machine and faield as well.  So then I read baout this great install wizard in 4.5 - I cant find it in the downloaded files anywhere.  I am trying to install a copy of DNN on a local machine (has IIS and SQL server 2000).  Please help!  Thanks!!!!

bpeski,

The install wizard does not exist as an executable.  You will still need to copy the dnn 4.5 package to your machine, create a virtual directory in IIS, give permissions on the file system, and configure the connection string in your web config. After this you may access your site and will be greeted with the installation wizard.

thanks,

Ian

Ian,

This is the closest thing to an installation procedure I have yet seen!!  Thanks!

Somehow, I'm guessing the connection string, even if I enter it, will not solve the problems.  For example, without the conn string set, CountryListBox dies a hideous death.  Even if I let it connect to a database I seriously doubt it will find what it wants there (since there will exist nothing at all).

I am trying to do this via IIS because the download/unzip/open .sln/F5 tactic was unsuccessful.

This is a SERIOUS deficiency in the website, IMHO.  A simple README file would even have been nice.  Jeez.

Chris
