James,

Which version of DNN 3.3.7 did you install? Was it the install or the source? I'm asking because I'm having similar issues with extending a module. I'd like to be able to debug my changes from within Visual Studio and I haven't been successful at doing so for .net 1.1 modules.

It was the Source version. To be honest I found debugging a bit hit and miss as well. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Obvously make sure you've compiled everything in debug mode and that the "debug" DLLs get copied to the working Bin directory before you attach to (or run) the DNN website.
