Hi,

I am trying to upgrade one of my domains from DNN 4.4.1 to 4.5.5. I followed very diligently the instructions (Mitchell Sellers) for the upgrade particularly copying the machine codes and DB configurations. I copied all of the files in 4.5.5. upgrade folder to the root folder with overwrite on. Now when I try to start the installation process by going to: http://dms-systems-com.web08.winsvr.net/Install/Install.aspx?mode=upgrade, I get

"Error in '/' Application Runtime error "but there is no information about the error showing nor can I find any reference in the log file. I do not see any stack trace so I don't know where to start.

I believe the connection strings and machine codes are correct. Where else can I look?

Thanks for your help.

Tugboat

In your web.config file if you set the "CustomErrors" section to "Off" instead of RemoteONly you can see the full text of the error.

Thanks for the tip but I made that change yet I still do not get any additional info for this error. Here is the code in my web.config:

    <!-- permits errors to be displayed for remote clients -->
    <customErrors mode="Off"/>

Does that look correct to you? Thanks again.

If you are not getting anything and it is telling you to set the custom errors to off.  Ensure that your ASP.NET version is set to 2.0 if on 4.x or 1.1 if on 3.x

Tugboat, did you find a solution to your problem?  I am experiencing the same thing.
