I have installed and setup the forum just fine.  Looks great.

I would like to have the forum as is on a page within my portal.  However, I would like to display just the "What's new" scroller" in a container on my home page.  Is this possible?

Thanks

Currently, this is not possible.  I personally would like to seperate out statistics and the What's New items into their own modules.  However, just because one person wants something doesn't mean it should happen.  It must be approved by the team and all things must be considered.
