When I add a parent portal I am getting the "under construction" page. I have DNS entries to the address. I have the portal alias in the parent portal site settings. When I try to access the site using reverse proxy I see that the url is formed as http://parent.portal.com/iistart.htm. I've never seen this before when creating a parent portal.

Also, under the Portal directory the new folder is listed but only contains the default graphics and the portal.css. Since I haven't accessed the new site, is that expected?

I'm at a loss for how to resolve this problem. By the way this is running on a webfarm that I manage. I manage the dns as well and that checks out good. I have checked and re-checked the dns for typos but nada. And since the name resolves with the "iistart.htm" page I assume I am getting to the site but the portal is not getting built.

thanks for any suggestions!

I solved my own problem with some digging.

Because I am using Network Load Balancing, I needed to add host headers to both webheads, I had only added to one of them.

DOH!
