I'm experiencing extremely slow performance, completely due to the database.  I have one portal on my install.  Changing to ANY page on the portal takes forever until I start killing the dbo.GetScheduleNextTask process in SQL Server management.  Once I kill that process, the page comes right up.

I'm running DNN 4.5.1 and SQL Server 2005.

Any ideas?  What further info might you need to track this issue down?

Thanks!

FYI - I was able to fix this issue by setting my caching defaultProvider to "BroadcastPollingCachingProvider"

This is the recommended setting for the Web Farm environment (alternative config) I am using.

Advice:  Don't think you remember all the settings for Web Farm support just because you've done it a hundred times!   :-)

Hi,

I am experiencing same problem. I have separte database server and separate webserver. But only 1 webserver, so not really a farm. I also see that this process is killing all performance. Do I have to switch to webfarm or is this something else? I already have the caching provider you mention...

Any help appreciated,

J.

Hi, I am still encountering this problem. Has anyone a solution yet?

Assume that this process is started more than once...Can it be that a singleton or monitor must be used to avoid the creation of double keys? I did not study the sourcecode yet. But maybe this is the problem?

Can it be that due to the web application setup project way two "core modules" can exist? For instance, I have used the source code for development and use it as well in production. I have seen the compiler creates a dll of about 3MB of the source project. Maybe this is the problem?

Check out this post. I think the answer to your problem is provided over there.  Mitcel Sellers even made a blog entry on this matter on his own site. You can find the blog entry over here.

Good luck,

Marc
