During past months I had a lot of skins using XHTML (div + css) validated by the W3C validator.

Actually ALL of them have 1 validation error: "Missing xmlns attribute for element html"
it seems that in tag html is missing xmlns, it should be like this: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">

2 questions:
is it changed something on the W3C validator in last weeks?
DNN core will implement this?

Thanks

Luca

Yes, I had the same problem. The validator changed about two weeks ago and is now checking for more.

I'll log this and get it fixed for 4.6. I believe we only need the xmlns attribute value though as setting the lang attribute to a fixed value such as "en" (English) would be incorrect for non-english sites.

I set the language attribute like this:

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="<%=PageCulture.Name%>" lang="<%=PageCulture.Name%>">

You should just replace that in the default.aspx. (e.g. replace the short "<html> with the new longer one.

It worked for me.

Thanks.
