If you moved the database to a different server, how would you set up DNN to go to that server instead?

You'll need to change connection string in Web.config to point to that server. For example, if your connection string says

Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=dotnetnuke;Integrated Security=True

And you want it to connect to a SQL Sever called MSS123, you'd need to change (local) to MSS123. Note, of course, that server has to be reachable from the webserver where you have your DNN installed.

Be sure that you change BOTH connection strings in 4.x!
