I am looking for a way to have an email sent out to a role (not the admin role) that basically welcomes the user to the group, and introduces them to the other members in that role. Is there an easy way of doing this? I am running the install version of 04.04.01.

You would have to perform some customizations to accomplish this.

Thats what I was afraid of. I looked at the commercial modules for user management on snowcovered, and none meet that need. I could easily modify the core to accomplish this I guess. If I do that how easy would it be to update the install version of the portal? Would you think I could modify the trigger that fires the admin email on a Source version of 04.04.01, and include the code to fire the email to the appropriate roles, then update the associated bin dlls with the new ones? I don't know if that would screw up the install version or not. Of course if I upgrade their portal I would have to insert the appropriate code on every upgrade..

You do not have to modify the core to achieve what you require.  Number of options

  • Create you own user registration module that does what you need
  • Purchase 3rd party registration module and customize it if features does not already exists
  • Take a look at Enterprise Forms, now supports custom User Registration which certainly will let you send emails to specific DNN role/s
