Favicon.ico is a small picture display beside the URL at the address bar of browser.

If you overwrite the default icon file of DNN, all of portal will have the same icon. How do I create favicon for each portal?

you just upload the favicon.ico images to the root of the respective portal e.g. portals/2 , portals/3 etc, dotnetnuke will discover the file and update the reference automatically.

     Pleae notice ,if you create sub portal using customize portal home directory , you need put this .ico file under it . eg, if you sub portal home directory is not the standard style(portals/2.3.4.) ,but like portals/demo,you need put this file on portals/demo.

     I wrote this because one of my friend create site like this, and report a bug for me just now.

I've gotten it to work for one site, but another site still doesn't display it...thought perhaps I had too large of an image size (but also thought it would scale it accordingly), so I scaled the graphic down to 16x16 and still hasn't been picked-up...strange.
