I need your help how can I creat DNN database, and in the WEB file how should the connection string be, what must I change inorder to let it work as localhost on my PC.

note: I use winXP.

Thanks.

Ibrahim,

welcome to the DotNetNuke community.

Regarding DNN setup: if you are using MS SQL Server, you can follow the same steps as for SQL server 2000, only you need to use SQL Server Management Studio instead of Enterprise manager. Create your database, create a user and grant dbowner permission for your database.

Hello again...

Thank you for help.

I have downloaded the "sql server management studio express" , and then I creat the database and the login correctly with no problems but on the other hand I faced a new problem in editting the connection string in the "web.config" file, I do not know how should the connection string be in order to run the application localy on my PC.

How shoul the following two inputs be set:

1- |DataDirectory|.

2- .\SQLExpress.

Please write to me a full connection string example if it possible.

thanks a lot.

  • if you use sql express, you don't need to touch the connections string
  • make sure, you set appropriate permissions for the installation folder and added default.aspx as default document in IIS virtual directory configuration
