I am setting up a DNN site and the requester asked me if DNN was Goolge friendly?  Does Goolge have any issues with the way DNN formats the information, handles its URLs, etc.

What I think he fears is a lower search ranking.

Thanks

There are ways to make DNN extremely Google friendly - site maps, hard links, etc.

Even so, the response I give clients is that they are FAR better off with a DNN CMS where content is lively (e.g., they are constantly updating content because they can, and there are ways to exploit it for good rank) versus having a conventional HTML site where it launches, and 1 year later it is still pretty much the same content...

In my opinion, there are far more compelling reasons to go with DNN than to stick with a conventional site , or even a competitive CMS.

If you are moving an existing site into DNN then there are a lot of things you need to consider if you don't want the client to have to start over in the SERPs.

The main one being that you will want to make sure there are 301 redirects for any high ranking pages that they curently have.
If they are already doing well in the search engine results then I would consider starting their new site on a different domain, or on a subdomain and leaving the old site in place while you phase it out.

Of course, here we are both making the assumption that this is an existing site with URLs that exist in the search engines.

It would be helpfull to know whether the site you are speaking of is a new domain or an existing domain that has existing search engine links.

There are a number of tricks for making DNN search engine friendly (remember, Google isn't the only game in town).  There are DNN redirector modules that can help, and you might want to look at:
