Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not sure that would work, onclick executes a client-side javascript function, so the problem would most likely be the same. I still need to make a post back to the server to process the click. I could possibly do something with AJAX, have the client side function make an AJAX call to the server which could store the click info, then attempt the window.open() call. I'm not sure that that wouldn't still be blocked by the popup blockers, but when I have some time I'll give it a try.

I looked at the core Links module, and if you set the module settings to open in a new window, I think you'll see the same behavior because the Links module also counts clicks.

Hello Steve, I have found a solution (but now you have to put it into production by doing the code part...) !!!!

I do not have the core module LINKS, but the Apollo MLAdvAnnouncement. I tried it using it as a simple LINK module, logging clicks (and opening in a new window). And guess what ?? People complaining with Norton or any other browser blocking pop-up do not have any problem !!! I am quite sure that Core links module do the same.
Look at the end of my DNN Page: http:// declic - video - fx . com / DNN . aspx
You will see the module "MLAdvAnnouncement" with a link to dotnetnuke. It is with a format like: mydomain.com/LinkClick.aspx?http://url

And people do not have problems with this... Can you investigate ???

Hello Steve,

Have you seen my recent contribution ??
For information, I have updated the first post of this thread with this new problem:

# Repository Dashboard - open doc without redirecting to Repository main page #
- The tip given in this thread does not work.

I will be on holidays for 2 weeks, and won't be able to test the new repository dev build, but I will do so as soon as I am back !

Your sugestion does not solve the problem of counting the clicks. If I implement that then you will not be able to have a "counter' on your repository of how many times the link has been clicked without major changes around how clicks are stored. Currently, click count is stored in the Repository table for each item. The LinkClick.aspx method ( which is an httphandler ) stores the clicks in it's own table. I would have to change the code and the stored procedures that store/retrieve item clicks, so it's not just a simple change. Plus there's a 'conversion' issue then to programmatically create LinkClick records for all existing repository items and transfer the click count to the new table, so we would now have an 'upgrade' process that would have to run when installed.

Ok... I have tried...

That's a pity.... If someone else has an idea ?? That's strange, it's like I was alone with Robax to complain about this method of opening links. I am pretty sure that other people are not aware that they "loose" lots of people with it.
