Hello all..
It has been a very long couple of days. I have a website that is an old 2.1.1 DNN. No I am the new owner and I want to update it. I was really surprised how many 2.1.2 DNN are still in use around the world until I tried updating mine.... I'm now praying that mine doesn't fall into the same fate as so many others. I checked the forum for advice before starting and decided to jump from 2.1.1 to 3.2.2 to 3.3.7 to 4.5.5. So laid 3.2.2 over my 2.1.1 folder and followed as much as possible the advice available. It ended in failure with 'dbo.GetTabByName' missing. Well, I decided to jump up to 2.1.2 first. That ended in success. Only a few issues. I was happy. I checked the database for the missing SP and it was there. I was happy. I laid 3.2.2 over the 2.1.2 DNN and setup the web.config as best as possible. Boom ... Death by missing 'dbo.GetTabByName'. Yep, it is gone from the database. I was sad. So I downloaded 3.1.1 and tried that. Boom ... death by missing SP. I downloaded 3.1.0 and boom ... death by missing SP. I was very sad. I have spent hours looking for help. I have checked my database to see if it is Case Insensitive and it is. I setup a 3.2.2 clean install. It worked great and compiled with no problem. Changed to my database and boom... death by missing SP.

I have a database that is 68 megs. It will be painful to build this over. Anyone have some advice? I know there is something wrong in the database but it has been running for almost 4 years. Where do I look?

Thanks Karl

Karl, did you follow these instructions: http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/186/Default.aspx

make sure, on every upgrade to copy over connection string (or both connection strings in DNN 4), both encryption keys, database owner and objectqualifier from perviously used web.config!

When upgrading from DNN2 to DNN 3, delete all .dll and .vb files before unzipping new files. I also used to delete all subdirectories in DesktopModules first (don't do this, if using explicit "upgrade" packages lateron)

When upgrading from DNN3.1.x/3.2.x to DNN 3.3.7, delete content of Tables Files and Folders and search tables (see http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/134/Default.aspx)

When moving from DNN 3 to DNN 4, make sure, there are no .vb files.

HTH
