Hi All

I have recently shifted my site that i was developing for a long time at my local XP to a shared Win host.

I did it savagly i think, copied the whole content to httpdocs of host and afterwards changed the portal alias from localhost/myportal to appropriate one on Web host database. Bingo! its worked.

Wat i am trying to find out is the best method to adopt. Like doing it through VS 2005 precompiled web option  or any piece of advice is welcomed.

Thanks in advance

Personally your above listed method is the only truly successful method that can be used with DotNetNuke.

DotNetNuke cannot be precompiled due to the AppLocalResources folder.

Hi and thanks for the reply. I am stuck into another problem that seems a small one but cant get out. When i try to reach my site at http://misdev.org it redirects me to http://misdev.org/Install/InstallWizard.aspx saying DotNetNuke is already Installed on this system and after retyping http://misdev.org the site starts working. All of my contacs using the site have reported the same issue. Please provide some help to solve this.

With regards

Emad

A quick fix is to upgrade your web.config to set the AutoUpgrade setting to False.

The best overall bet it to ensure that your version table is correct with the version number, and to make sure that both connection strings are the same.
