Had install of 4.5 working fine locally.  Set up the entire web site and wanted to go public.  Now I’m getting the following error message and don’t know what to do.

I believe I may be misdirecting the virtual directory but tried to reset but it won’t work.

I don’t want to lose all my work and am also wondering how I should back everything up before going any further.  Please assist.

Ok, my guess is that you were accessing the site via http://localhost or some variation of that.  Then you went to access it either via an external IP address or domain name.  YOu must be sure to add portal aliases for EACH domaint hat will be accessing the site.  YOu can do this 1 of 2 ways.  Either login as host under the existing URL and then under Admin -> Site Settings you can add a new alias.  Or you can add it directly to the database.

For backup processes, I have a detailed tutorial on my website at http://www.mitchelsellers.com

The problem is that I can't get the default.aspx page to now load locally as it was in the past.  Additionally, were I to access the database where would I

find the settings?
