Hi

I am a bit confused with regards to the file upload facility that comes as default with DNN.  The options are for a user to link to a url or File ( A File On Your Site )

Why would this be so! surley the second option should say "Browse Your Computer".

This is really confusing for the user becuase if they use the file location dropdown, it displays a list of all the directoies on my site.  i know i can block them from viewing the files in these directories through the file manager, but i cant seem to block them from viewing all the directory names.  Which essentailly means that when my users add a record using the UDT module, they are presented with a list of all my directories, without knowing which directory they can write to.

I have tested this and none of the three users i asked to add a new record could work out how to upload an image

Any ideas

Or am i missing somthing

I personally see this as a user training issue.

Yes, it is a bit "clunky" if you will to be forced to click on the "Upload a new file" button then select the file, then click on "Upload" again.  But personally I have trained all of my users and have no problems.

As for the folder selection, I know you can default it to a speciic directory with some code chanages if you are interested.

Hi

Thanks for your reply

Yes i would like to know if there is some code changes that will achive this. Becuase it is the list of folders that appear is the problem.  I cant see how you can train a user to chosse the right folder to upload an image to.  This is easy if i use the rich text editor to add content and images becuase i can set the defualt directory but if i use some of the DNN standard modules such as UDT so i can get users to add there own images it is not easy to instruct them which folder to use.

I think i need to find another module that one can set a folder for the upload.

Thanks
