This is more a heads up then anything else... I realize I am on "thin ice" working with VS2008 beta 2 but I believe the Core Team may be interested in this.

I created the Hello World example using Micheal Washington's excellent example.  The example loads and runs as expected.  BUT, if I want to edit the aspx files I get the following message:

"Cannot find web project item ... EditHelloWorld.ascx" .  I googled the error and discovered a bug report with Microsoft.  Great... well not really.   They say they will not be fixing this.  ???

See http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=293464  but will investigate a possible work revision to the spec for a future release.

As commented in the bug report text all works fine in VS 2005.  (as per Micheal's example) ... so VS2008 will require some work arounds unless the Core team can "inform" Microsoft of the possible problem.  (They my have already ... )

Hope this will help other who are playing with VS2008 beta 2 (orcas).

Paul.

Additional informaton ... I tried the suggested work around http://blogs.msdn.com/webdevtools/archive/2006/07/01/652986.aspx  with no luck.

Rather interesting...Not sure how to address this issue.  Meanwhile,  I'm going back to VS2005 for ASP.Net V2.0 stuff ... Rats.

Paul.

Are you using WAP or are you using one of my WSP format tutorials? If it's WAP then I'm not surprised they aren't fixing it. Notice I only have one WAP tutorial. I do everything in the WSP format.

Micheal,

I was using the WAP format as I find it the easiest to generate modules - actually packaging them into a single assembly and create the zip package.

I would appreciate any tips you would suggest for packaging modules for DNN (using any tools  - VS2005, VS2008, VSE, etc. ) for those that want to share their modules. Currently,  I have a nice clean method for packaging up my modules using VS2003 (ASP.NET V1.1) and I am finding it difficult to create a similar environment withing ASP.NET V2.0 world.

I would prefer to find an "automated" way to package a module.  I was hoping Joe Brinkman would suggest a method using Powershell.  His first blog on the subject certainly raised by hopes.

Many thanks for your Tutorials ... they have proven very helpful ... please keep up the excellent work
Paul.

You are welcome.

I understand the packaging issue. I Think a MSBuild script would be the answer. Perhaps somone will work on the issue.
