I am running 4.05.05 and have AD authentication running correctly but not AutoLogin.  Users have to click a link to WindowsSignIn.aspx to get logged in.  I have tried uncommenting the <add name="authentication" line and it doesn't seem to have any effect.

For a temporary workaround, I copied WindowsSignIn.aspx and aspx.vb to the root directory and added WindowsSignIn at the top of the document search order.  That way, at least users navigating to DNN get autologged in.

However, that doesn't help me if someone clicks on a link deep into the site (like responding to a forum post).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Dan

I'm assuming (because it seems to be working in the root) that you set the permissions on the original WindowsSignin in IIS. When you uncommented <add name="authentication...../> did you do an App Restart and kill the process on the system your using on your server (On Server 2003 you can recycle the application pool in IIS).? I'm just wondering if when you were testing it was loading a cached page when you tried to visit the site.

Yes, I did set the permissions.  I tried it both setting the entire site to integrated and also setting the site to anonymous and WindowsSignIn to integrated.  After changing web config, I did recycle IIS.  I even restarted because I thought perhaps recycle wasn't getting it.
