Hi-

My company is looking into using DNN for our collection of public websites. I'm new to DNN but from what I've been reading it seems like a bunch of child portals with a shared parent would let us share some common content. One of the things I'd like to do is be able to syndicate pages from one site to another. By that I mean something more like 'copy page' from one site to another (the complete page - with all of the content and objects on it), and set which site can use it and track which one's actually do. Once the page is there they would be able to translate or alter it - it would be their own copy. We'd just want to know who's using it so we can send notifications when the original page changes or has to be removed for any reason.

I've seen a module that allows for 'read only' syndication between child portals but not an actual 'copy'. Anyone seen something like this? I'd really appreciate any pointers.

Thanks,

Jason Pamental

It certainly something that could be doable with a couple of custom module.

Off the top of my head I cant think of any module that does exactly what you want by default since
most modules are portalId centric.

But it would not take a huge amount of work to do what you are talking about.

I guess the most complex aspect would be controlling the mechnism that determines when
a new page should be propagated for the first time.

Thanks Westa -

One approach that has been suggested was to look at the functionality of the 'copy page' feature that you can use within a portal, and look at a way to apply it with a different portalID - sort of from a view one level up from the portals themselves so you can select from the available child portals within the system. I'm still new to the platform so I'll just have to see how it goes!

Cheers,

Jason
