Are you guys ever going to fix this problem?  This makes all of our blogs look so ugly.  I know that I am not putting in the <br> tags when I put a comment in, and I know my users are not also.  You keep releasing new versions, but never with a fix for this, and this is something that EVERYONE is affected by.   I just installed the latest version, and it still does it.

How can I be part of your open source group? I have never done these projects, but I am a good c# developer and woudl be willing to research it.  I just hate having to wait for very simple and trivial fixes like this and nobody making a priority out of them.

Please let us (your users of the software) know when you think this will be fixed.  We look like retards when our comments that users leave us have html breaks in it. I appreciate that you guys do this, and you do it on your time away from your day jobs. I can appreciate it, but this fix I bet takes you only 30 minutes to research and fix for good.  I dont want to use Wordpress.. becuase I love the DNN integration.

Thanks so much in advance!

Travis,

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/tabid/824/default.aspx details the process for getting involved. However, this is really for people who give over substantial code or join an active project team. We are able to accept simple bug fixes from the community without requiring a software grant, so if you want to work through this issue and generate a fix it would be welcomed. Please note, AFAIR the issue is not with the blog module itself, it was caused by a piece of necessary security related code I added. That code does not cause the issue, but it seems that somewhere between the module, the dnneditor and the actual editor (usually FCK), the html get's out of sync (i.e. we htmlencode and htmldecode in pairs, but there is an additional transform of line breaks as well that does not get reverted back). This is why the problem has existed for a while, as it's unclear where it is and therfore who should work on it. I have it on my list to look at, but I'm in crunch mode in work for the next 10 days so won't be looking at it until at least then.

Cathal,

Thank you for responding.

I actually DO have this as a priority item to get resolved, but as you pointed out, the Blog Module is NOT modifying this string in anyway. It is simply going through the security function to ensure that the string is not a SQL Injection etc.

As a side note, I had thought that this behaviour was being fixed in 4.7? Not sure at this point though.

Doesn't look like it. I am assuming that dotnetnuke is running on v4.7 and take a look at the comments in this blog entry - it continues to be riddled with the <br> tag.
