My site is private and content is available only for registed users who log in.  However, google has found and indexed both the default "privacy statement" and "terms of use". I only want registered users to be able to access these pages.  Here is what I would like to know how to do:

1. How do I set permissions to view the page to registered users? Currelntly when you click settings the site allows me to edit the home page settings, since the privacy statement is associated withit.  The home is set to registered users already.

2.  How do I edit the head tag of the pages or templates to include <meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow">, to keep search engines from indexing it?

The following google search link will get you to the site pages that should be hidden:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=sales+encoremed&spell=1

Any help is appreciated.

I wrote a big article about this problem a while ago - Removing duplicated content in DotNetNuke .. you need to use a robots.txt file to stop google from indexing these pages.

I dont know if there is a way to hide the built in privacy page, since it is not a real page (just some text loaded into whatever the current page happens to be).  You can try making a new page called Privacy, setting it to be viewed by registered users only, and then changing your skin and change the link to the privacy page to point to this new page instead.

...John posted a good solution over at Snapsis:

SEO - Fixing  DotNetNuke Terms of Use and Privacy Statement links to remove duplicate content

[edit] Whoops, this does not hide them, per se, but removes the duplicate content created from the current privacy and terms linking scheme. As the previous poster suggested, the robot.txt file would be the solution for hiding them from the bots.

Thanks Terp :)

btw, did you get my reply to your question that you sent me a while ago? I have been having email problems, so I'm never sure if anyone is getting my emails.

JK.
