Hi

I have a client that has done teh following, and I am at a loss as to how to fix it short of a complete re-install (thank god she hasn't done too much work on her site as yet). The issue is this :

  1. She had a login module placed on her home page.
  2. We then configured the user page under admin > site settings > advanced settings to be the home page, so that whenever anyone clicked the login link, they would be taken to the home page, to use the login module on that page.
  3. Yesterday she did 2 things :
    1. She removed the login module from the home page
    2. She changed the user page setting under admin > site settings > advanced settings to be another page on her site (one that didn't have a login module added to it yet)
    3. She then logged out
  4. Now, she can't login to the site as whenever she clicks the login link, she is taken to the new page that has no login module on it.

I have tried to manually change the value for the LoginTabID in the Portals table to NULL, but this did nothing - it still resolves to the page with no login on it.

Can anyone help me with this ?

Thanks

your solution is on the right track!... just remember that DNN does a lot of caching, so actually does not look at the db when deciding what tab is the logon tab. This can be easily fixed by restarting the application, for instance by "touching" the web.config file, or by recycling the application pool

Hi Erik

Thanks for that. I had forgotten about restaring the app by touching the web.config

It has been resolved.

Hey guys-

I have the same problem, but must admit I am a novice.  Can you explain to me how to "touch" the web.config - In laymen terms?

Thanks.

I'm just a pilot........

Open File in a text editor, add a blank after any line and save the file.
