Can DNN 4.02 be made to use with Mobile Phones by modules? Or how would you add mobile abibities to DNN?

Any tutorials on the subject?

Or are there any Modules that provide mobile funtionability?

DNN used to have a built-in solution for mobile devices based on the ASP.Net mobile controls.  But not any more, the last version to have this functionality was 1.0.10e I believe.  At the moment there is no easy solution for mobile support in DNN.  However, mobile devices that are Windows based and have the mobile version of IE try to render the regular site and they do it fairly well.  If you have a mobile device with browser go to my site for a demo of the old DNN functionality here:  www.almacigo.com

I have suggested in the past to at least have in DNN the functionality to identify the client browser and when using a mobile device provide a redirection to a mobile site/application of my own making.  But there is so much being done in DNN that I doubt mobile support will be addressed any time soon.

I would like to do some testing of this later on IF I get the time.

I have created a few skins in the past that had limited design characteristics and have been able to browse my DNN sites using a mobile phone before.

I have done it with both Windows Mobile (With IE) as well as a standard mobile browser (Verizon KRAZR phone)

Yes, the "high end" mobile browsers work pretty well.  But the thing about having a site made with the ASP.Net mobile controls is that it will render properly on almost any mobile browser.  I tested this with and old Motorola phone that my wife had that was text only and I was able to navigate the site.  And the best thing with this approach is that you don't have to consider the mobile browser limitations when designing your main site.

The old DNN approach for mobile support was not perfect but it was a good start.
