My DNN portal runs really slow, esspecially the first page, it takes up to 1 full minute for the page to load. Can some one tell me how I can fix this problem, the site url is www.arodrive.com

Are you using some form of a 'keepalive' service?

If your site is not visited that frequently, ASP.net releases the resources and your site must be recompiled after it 'wakes-up.' I believe this takes places after 30 minutes of inactivity; therefore, most sites will use some sort of keepalive service to keep the site alive.  I use host-tracker and have it ping my /keepalive.aspx every 15 minutes.

I only mention this, as I, too, saw a long lag in load time when I first visited your site...then closed it down, cleared my cache and went back in and it was pretty snappy, so I am assuming this might be the case.

That was an interesting point.

The other thing I have experienced with slow loading of DNN was to have a huge database in size. In fact, due to have many General_Exceptions caused by a badly-installed module the size of the had been massively increased so the server could not perform well. In other words, not only the performance of the database had decreased, the DNN engine was too busy with lodging error logs too.

Cheers,

Mehrbod

TMMWorld just posted about a free opportunity in the 'Announcements' section of the forums; I am still using host-tracker, but have heard that they are or already have moved to being a pay-for-service alternative.

There are some other free gadets out there, like a windows-based program that runs and stays in your system tray and will ping your site at a time of your choosing (say, every 15-20 minutes). Snowcovered also has some alternatives that may work for you, so perhaps do a search over there for 'keepalive.'
