New to DNN I want to import accounts from my old site.

The new site only has an admin user so far.

I have two members tables, one from my own hack in tables with email address as username, the other with a separate user name. Both store the passwords in the SHA256 format. Both have around 1000 members.

  • It seems the DNN password format is not stored in "Triple-DES" format as default? Anyone know if it is feasable to convert from SHA256=>Triple-DES?
  • I also saw in the DNN web.config file its possible to set the password storage format to SHA256 (AspNetSqlMembershipProvider) Any advise? If I change this, how can admin log on? Would this config change have to be done before installing the site? The site security is not highly critical, SHA256 should be good enough.
  • Where can I find documentation on how all the user account info is stored?
  • I saw some year old postings about importing a Snitz. Does anyone have any new on this?
  • Any good toools around for importing accounts and other tables info to DNN?
