I've been using .NET for quite awhile now, but just installed VS2005 Standard edition (gift at the Nov2005 rollout).

I then downloaded the DNN starter kit for 4.0.2

I opened up VS2005 and select File, New, Web Site...

The dialog box opens and I can see Visual Studio Installed Templates and under the My Templates all I see is Search Online Templates.

When I ran the start kit install the templates were put in:  ..\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual Web Developer

Is this ok, or is this my problem (VS2005 is not the Visual Web Developer)?
How would I fix or if it's not the problem, does anyone have a hint on what might allow me to see templates?

In advance:  For your help, I thank you, my back thanks you, my neck thanks you....(I've been at this for awhile)

That's odd, I've a similar setup and mine install to C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual Basic\Web . I know there was an issue with the 4.0 starter kit where it installed into the VWD folder, and not the visual basic\web folder, are you sure you're using 4.02? Perhaps theres an issue caused by the order in which VWD and VS.NET are installed - if i get a chance i'll try to recreate this in a virtual machine. You can fix your issue by moving the dotnetnuke files from \visual web developer to \visual basic\web for both the ProjectTemplates and ItemTemplates

If you have not fixed it. Try to switch the language to 'VB', then you shall see the template.

Did your StarterKit.vsi file install .zip files in the VWD projects template subdirectory?  That's where I'm at and I can't figure out what the next step is.  Anybody else struggling with this?  I'm usually pretty good at this kind of stuff, but this one stupms me.

Do this steps to clear the Problem:

1. Create a New Visual Basic (Windows Application) Project

2. Now you can see the Template

3. Close the VB Project and use the DNN Template under New | Web Site
