I'm getting a very vague general exception error, and I'm not sure what is causing it.  There doesn't seem to be anything visible in the application that is causing or I should say no errors as I'm navigating the site. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Obviously, somewhere DNN is trying to load a type that is configured as an empty string. That's no good.

Check your web.config for a configuration error, where you might have accidently configured a provider type as type="". I doubt that will be the case.

Another option would be to put DNN debugging symbols in your bin directory, so you would have some line numbers for further investigation. I'm not sure if the DNN downloads include debug symbols or not (I always recompile the distributions), so you may have to load the source and build yourself. This can cause problems, so make sure to perform some backups first and do on a dev machine.

You could also attach a lightweight debugger to your running install. This is a fairly advanced procedure. I use Microsoft's command-line managed debugger, MDbg.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck!

Thanks for the help!  I looked at the web.config, and unfortunately that wasn't the problem.

Are there any other ideas?  I'd like to look at some other things prior to going the debug route since this is a production site.

Thanks,

Mark
