Searching asp.net forums for how to setup AD, I found ...

>>Open IIS Settings, change security setting Admin\Security\WindowsSignin.aspx depends on your Authentication type

Uh, where is that setting?  I assume Open IIS Settings means open IIS Manager.  But I don't know how to get to that setting.  I tried right clicking on my DNN application and bringing up the properties, but I don't see any settings like that.

Also, is there a doc somewhere that tells how to configure DNN for AD?

Thanks.

It's a little obscure, but if you're in the IIS Admin MMC plug-in, and you have the files of your site in the right pane, you can navigate to the file and right click the *file* and set the properties.  Instead of Directory Security, you'll have a File Security tab and you can override the site security settings for that file.  Note that when/if you ever change the site settings in the future, IIS will ask you if you want to override the setting you put on that file, so be ready for that.  Hope that helps,

Roberta

The error I'm getting is:
"The default authentication provider specified in web.config is not configured properly. Authentication settings are disabled."

I don't use Active Directory and I'm in a shared hosting environment.  This is a fresh install of DNN 4.02.

Stratcr (CodeFreak) Out of the 10 posts you have made on this board, 9 of them have been a variation of the one you just posted, advertising that 'third party module'.  It makes me wonder what your affiliation is with them. So please, don't repost this as the divine answer to my problem.  I don't want a 'third party' solution, I want a 'no cost' fix.

Thanks,
--Ken
