Thank you very much for this information!  I appreciate this detail as it alleviates any concerns that data issues might cause upgrade issues (which was my initial fear).

I apologize if in my last post I came across as thinking that you were not doing a good job on this new release.  I think that with all of your efforts and testing that this module will yet again rise up as a high quality module!

RegEx/html use with the word filter and ability to use a 'leaderboard' after the first post to insert Google ads?  :)  ...just had to throw that out there again, as these are the two biggest differences between AF and the core in which I am most interested. ;) Tags would be huge, too...food for thought, sir. :)

Lastly, this might be an unpopular question, but being "half way done w/ the follow-up release" speaks volumes to the lengthly delay with the upcoming release and how the release process seems to have failed you (and the entire DNN community) this time; why, then, was it held up soooo very long when you could have cut a release and did a quick follow-up to handle any last minute issues that may have arose?

I would argue that the core release is much more important than any one project, and we have had a myriad of releases during my short tenure here...hell, some of the x.x.1 - x.x.3 releases are measured in days. If the core isn't totally polished before 2-3 follow-ups are published, why is the bar seemingly higher for the forum module, if that makes any sense?

MItchell - No worries.

Terp - There are a few things for me to touch on here. Because of the long delay with the release process, any changes which I made in the previous version ended up in the one releasing (4.4.3) up until about a month ago. The next module release has a much smaller list of items, I am only looking to integrate Ajax and fix bugs. (When I say 1/2 done, I have all the administrator areas converted to using Ajax if necessary).

RegEx/html might be one enhancement that sneaks in that is not Ajax, since I completely overhauled the filter UI to make it easier to use (plus the backend already handles it for the most part). I don't see me working in the Google Ads now but I will consider it for the future since this is not the first request. Tags, I need to see how the core is going to handle this in the long run, so I may come up w/ my own Tagging API but not this next release.

The DNN Module vs Core release processes differ for a couple reasons. Mainly, the Core controls who can checkin and out and there is a standard base and a bigger group of testers. Modules, however, have so many different factors to contend with. The release process is being overhauled for the modules too.

This is all very exciting.  When are you thinking (ballpark) that we will be able to download the new forum module?  I am itching to get my hands on the new forum before I launch my new site.
