Hi,

A critical error has occurred.
Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request. For example, when adding controls dynamically, the controls added during a post-back must match the type and position of the controls added during the initial request.

The above error occurred when i logged into my site (DNN 4.5.5) through IE... i then found that i had another IE window opened in which i was already logged in as a different user on my site.

Although i could not reproduce the above error everytime, however there was a 'leaking of permissions' everytime certainly. So for example, when USER-1 is logged in and i open another IE window and login with USER-2, the view & edit permissions of USER-1 seem to leak on to USER-2. I have tested this with another popular DNN based website where i have subscribed for DNN tutorials and i have download permission there. I created a new user on that site which does not have download permission normally, but when i ran the above mentioned test, the new user was able to download content.

Is this a known issue? What can i do to prevent the critical error?

Thanks in advance,

Raghu.

DNN experts,

does this sound like a bug (to be logged into support.dotnetnuke.com)?
