Hi, I am running the latest version of DNN on .NET2 and Server2005.

When I log in as admin and attempt to set the Authorized Edit Roles for the Forum I am unable to authorize a role.  The window comes up correctly when I click the folder search icon, the serch works and I am able to click "Add" so that the role appears in the lower box.

But, when I click "ok" nothing happens and the error warning appears with the following:

Line:  100
Char:  3
Error:  Access is denied.
Code: 0
...DiscussionForum/tabid/141/ctl/ForumEdit/mid/519/forumid/5/Default.aspx

As a result, I have a great looking forum, but nobody is able to use it because they aren't authorized!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

I am not sure what is causing an access denied error but I don't think it is the forum itself.  Next, you don't need to use the authorized sections unless you want a private forum.  To control overall who wants to post and view use the module settings permissions.  Please see the forum documentation for further understanding.  Also, any issues w/ the popup you should be able to avoid using IE and not Firefox or Safari.

Hi, thanks much for responding.  I guess my greenhand shows in that this was a pretty simple fix.  On the other issue, I am using IE and the error when trying to close the pop-up is still occuring.  This is not a serious problem since I am not going to be using private forums.

Thanks again!!

OK, I'm getting this same error and I really would like to use private forums.  Does anyone have ideas?

This is working, as it is used on this site for example. I am not sure where you problem is, but read the documentation and then post questions with more details. The common problem is not setting the proper rights on the module itself in addition to the per forum permissions.
