Upgrading DNN is always an issue for me.  I use parent portals a lot.  Between 4.3.5 when I started developing my site and now DNN has broken the ability to export and create portals several times. While it is broken I can't upgrade.  In 4.6.* it appears to be working. I talked with my ISP PowerDNN and they recommended that I wait until 4.7.0 becase so many upgrades to 4.6.2 were going badly.  I have upgraded my localhost and done a fair bit of testing and haven't seen any of the issues they were talking about.

The parent portal issue also prevents me from being able to use John Mitchell's PageBlaster solution since it applies the same solution to all portals.

I fixed my Google problem by using a wild card in robots.txt. This fix doesn't work with many other search engines.
Disallow: */ctl/Terms/Deafult.aspx
Disallow: */ctl/Privacy/Deafult.aspx

I use a GlobalLogin page for each of my portals which gives them each a single login page. Too bad that DNN didn't extend this feature to Term, Privacy, Register and any other such pages.

Can you share with us what the changes to friendly urls will be and also how they migh help with this problem?

You mentioned that there will be changes in
