I need to redirect all requests coming to the URL http://mydnnsite/download/path-to-file to http://mydnnsite/DesktopModules/Downloader/Downloader.aspx?path=path-to-file

so if a user requested

http://mydnnsite/download/images/image1.jpg

the request is processed as

http://mydnnsite/DesktopModules/Downloader/Downloader.aspx?path=images/image1.jpg

can this be done using the friendly URL filter? and what is the setting i should put to get this result?

Thanks in advance.

Add something like this this to your SiteUrls.config file

    1 <RewriterRule>

    2   <LookFor>.*/download/(.+)\Default.aspx</LookFor>

    3   <SendTo>~/DesktopModules/Downloader/Downloader.aspx?path=$1</SendTo>

    4 </RewriterRule>

But be careful only to allow your Downloader.aspx to send files from a particular directory. Otherwise someone could request Downloader.aspx?path=../../web.config
