We have a custom profile property which user doesnt even get to see which is their GUID.  However would like to know how to automatically assign that property when the user registers.  Any advice or tips anyone has?

What I did so far is in the file Login.ascx.vb found function  "Private Sub UserAuthenticated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As UserAuthenticatedEventArgs)

And added some code to it which doesnt work, it doesnt crash, but profile properties are not saved  do any DNN Gurus know what am I doing wrong:

Try

If e.User.Profile.ProfileProperties("USERGUID").PropertyValue = Nothing Or e.User.Profile.ProfileProperties("USERGUID").PropertyValue = "" Then

User.Profile.SetProfileProperty(

"USERGUID", Guid.NewGuid().ToString())'User.Profile.ProfileProperties("USERGUID").PropertyValue = Guid.NewGuid().ToString()

End If

Catch ex As ExceptionEnd Try
