Hi,

I'm wondering if the AD provider is configurable to use LDAP e.g. to access an ADAM store.
I have to use a RSA SecurID token (which I do) to authenticate and I made some changes in the sign in process. However I have to duplicate manualy the users to run the token sign in first and DNN sign in after success. LDAP would solve the burden.
Furthermore, like MOSS 2007 makes use of the ADAM store (default in W2K3R2), is this provider extensible enough to do the same?

I must say that I didn't install it and by reading the previous threads I suppose the source is still not available (running here mission critical services on DNN as well) and yet early enough to try.

[side question] Is there any docs on DNN release management and any deployment plans I could read?

Many thanks and success,

Luis Silva

I don't think it'll work with ADAM but then I also don't have access to an ADAM store to test it on. The AD provider uses ADSI to talk to the AD instead of LDAP. Somebody (Toby Kraft?) wrote an LDAP provider for earlier versions of DNN but I don't know if it's been updated for 4.6.x or not.

I'm not sure where the holdup is in the releasing of the source and have just asked for an update before replying to your post. If you need it in a rush email me at mhorton@telus.net and I'll get it to you.

As for your side question, are you talking about DNN as a whole or just as far as individual projects go?

I too have the same question.  We are in the process of implementing a new portal on our intranet but have about 10 people on the extranet who would access it.  It appears ADAM is the best solution for us moving forward.  I guess I could build a web form to look at ADAM/AD vs using the tool in DNN.

Why not have the internal people login with their AD credentials and the external users us regular old DNN credentials?

Thanks Mike.  I had done a little more investigating after I posted this and found what you had mentioned would work similar to how ADAM would work.  Could you explaine to me what the Sync feature is in the authentication area for AD.

Maybe you can help me out with a scenerio, if I have an internal user I can authenticate with AD and have the application authentication with DNN will i have to add the internal user in the DNN database? Or is the sync feature part of this?
