Hi - trying to install a DNN test/play instance on my WinXP/IIS machine.  I have followed the documentation faithfully but when I open VWD I see no DNN App Framework chooice under "New Web Site".

This should be very straightforward but darned if I can see why this isn't working.

All suggestions and guidance appreciated!

I followed it to the letter - I swear! :-)

I had SQL Server, VWD, VB Express all installed first.  I downloaded 4.6.2, changed the file from .zip to .msi, and ran the install.  Yet when I open VWD there simply is no DNN Web Application Framework choice when I open New Website.  I am at  a loss to figure this one out.  This seems very straightforward but I have fouled it up somehow.

VS2005 is installed on the machine - could this cause confusion?  There is no DNN Web App Framework there either.

I just don't get it.

Could be that when you ran the install script, the template could have been installed to a wrong forlder that VWD can't find. I had that problem too and it drove me nuts until I ran a search on my computer for those files. They need to be in  <MyFiles>\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual Basic.

I have no idea why they should be there, but this is the location that works for me, and when I ran the starter kit install, it installed them somewhere else...

Thank you Vera - I finally decided to blast any and all VS installations and just start with VWD and go from there.

After reinstall of VWD and the Starter Kit all was going quite well until during the Auto-Installation step it got to DB updates and then I saw something like:

"Upgrade DB to 4.6.1 - Failure-"

So now the site wont load up - I just get:

The type Initializer for 'DotNetNuke.Data.Provider' threw an exception."

Is there a way to do the 4.6.1 (and maybe 4.6.2)  DB updates manually?
