Hello everyone,

After lurking around DNN and these forums for the last couple years, I'm ready to make my first real contribution. And, I fear it won't necessarily win me any friends!  On the other hand, I do really like the DNN platform and want to help move it forward.

I've just joined Seablick Consulting as a guest blogger and you can see my first post here:

DNN Nation Needs to Wash its Walls

I hope everyone takes it in the positive manner I intended.

"Here’s another DNN grease spot you may not have noticed. Why are there so many blue circles with white question marks littering the front and back end of DNN?" LOL

...because we layman with no "techie skills" struggle with the 'Name:' field and, more often than not, need further clarification?  :)

Just a quick note that Jeff's post is back up on the Seablick blog after some server trouble.

While at first glance, I did take your article a bit offensively. But then I thought about it and not so much now.

I think though that you are completely off base with blaming DotNetNuke on the majority of your issues. The framework is capable of implementing very good portals, ones that do not look like 90% of them out there as well.

Case in point: http://www.bearmountain.ca

THAT website right there is a shining example of what is capable with DotNetNuke when it's in the right hands of a GOOD implementor. And that is the key term there; IMPLEMENTOR.

Most of your observations are not based on the framework itself, but on the person implementing the framework for a specific site solution. I think that would be all that I would clarify in your article.

Good article nevertheless.
