You didn't do anything with the database did you?  All of the information for your site is there so if you deleted the database and recreated it the site will be gone.

Just ftping the new files from the DNN install should not have been able to do this.  I've done it my self serveral times and never had this happen.  The only thing I can think of is the database must have been deleted and recreated.

OK I am now very confused and obviously a little upset. I followed the upgraded process detailed below to the letter, which was detailed in the DNN 322 install / upgrade guide:

  • Backup Web.config and rename to web.backup.resources
  • Changed Release.config to Web.config and edited it.
  • Copied the SiteSQl Key, the Machine validation key and the Machine decryption key and Install date from the older web.backup.resources doc into the new web.config file.

Then i used an FTP client to overwrite the dnn 3013 files with the new 322 files.

When i browsed to my site this happens. How can i have gone wrong?

My site is based on a managed server by discountasp.net and they have a separate MS SQL 2000 server where my db resides. i can log in and see the same db is there as normal and it looks like nothing has changed with this db. it still has the same amount of space used and free space on the server, so i can't see how i would have removed it and recreated a new blank one.

i even checked the diskspace i have used on the windows iis server and that hasn't changed so am sure all the info / data is there in the mssql server and on the windows server it is just that the upgrade has lost the linking information.... When i log in to the site i have no modules that i uploaded, no data, no users nothing?

Please let me know what i can do to sort this out?

What are my options? I cannot believe i am going to have to recreate all the work i have done.

Am very very confiused and don't know what to do.? Please help me as all i was trying to do in the first place was sort out the design of the default DNN gallery to give me the NEXt page icon, when you said it would be a good idea to upograde to 322.

Help!

Is autoupgrade value set to true inside web.config? Either it it did not trigger the process or is not connecting to the right DB. I'd re-check the connection string to see where DNN is connecting to, since you say it has the normal look, it must be connecting somewhere other than the original DB.

I have checked that the autoupgrade is set to true as you can see below.

Also i only have 1 database registered with discountasp.net and so i can't see how it would connect any other db, than the one specified in the web.config, again se below?

I have *** out the password but otherwise all info is correct. This is the correct db name and uid and sql server?

Please help as i have lost everything?

Thanks Nick

Your site looks like it was installed from zero and not upgraded. What is your object qualifier in web.config?
