DNN version 04.06.02. I have several article modules loaded, using version 03.02.06, the news feed module and the latest forum modul and blog module 03.03.01. I've been building a site for months now and just we we are ready to launch to big problems raise their ugly head.  The first problem is the sudden disappearance of appearance settings. Logo, images in articles, even a setting on a news feed that tells it to use a file for appearance settings. It only takes about 20 minutes to get it all back but obviously we can't launch with this kind of instability.

I don't know what's causing it but my intuition tells me it happens after a recompile. I noticed very early on that if I made any appearance changes under site settings I would lose the logo and would have to go back in and reset it. I got use to it and just made sure to take care of that if I made any changes. Also, any time I even look at the edit page of an article it seems to add a <p> in the description section. I remove it and all is ok, but if I go back in, it's there again and if I don't take it out the description starts a line down, not lining up with the image. Again I got used to it. Probably stupid.

Tuesday night I installed several Amazon widgets. Everything seemed fine when I finished.  Rechecked it using a different browser with a non admin log in. All was good. Wednesday morning all my images and the logo were gone. Also the news feed was showing all the articles and not just the first 5 as I had it set the night before. I figgured it must be the widgets so I removed them all. I put everything back and started researching my other probelm, spontaneous logout for some people using IE. Everything seemed fine for a couple of days.

During the course of my research on the spontaneous logout problem I read something about HTTP authentication so last night I went in the admin athentication. I made no changes, just looked. This morning everything was gone again. Under event viewer it shows a general protection errors onthe authentication tab, at about the time I was looking around. I didn't notice any errors while I was in there. Once again I spent about 20 mintues putting things back.

So, I'm stuck. I searched forums but can't find anything else like this. There is plenty about the IE spontaneous logout but I never found the definitive answer on that. There is a lot of talk about DNN having trouble dealing with child portals, which this is. Is it possible that's causing both problems? If so, I can take care of that over the weekend but I don't want to unless I know it will make a difference. HELP!

Sorry for all the typos and the long tirade. To sum up, I have two problems. 1. Twice, overnight my site loses most of it's appearance settings. 2. Some users, when loggin in with IE 6.0 experience spontaneous logout.

It happened again last night. I noticed it was after a friend registered on the site. I looked back and the other blow ups were soon after registrations. If registrations are somehow invovled it's on all of them. I've had several the last few days. I tried to duplicate the problem by restistering as someone new but nothing happend. Could be just a coincidence.
