Hello!

I graduated this year in the UK with a 1st in Computer Science BSc Hons. I have mainly learned C#, VB.Net, ASP.NET (1.0, 2.0 and some 3.0) and the usual SQL server 2005, IIS etc.

I have agreed to stay on as a part time assistant developer for the next year and part of my role will be to create a new part of my University's web site. They require a site that (I suppose will be similar to facebook in the way it's made) allows students to have their own page that tells them about their studies / frameworks, projects and lecture times. We see it as a very large project and after a bit of googling, I thought that DNN would be able to take a bit of the pain away?!

The main features are:

  • Students can edit their own page via a template / WYSIWYG editor
  • Students can upload photographs and videos etc (only visible internally)
  • They have their own individual logins
  • They have an individual day planner / timetable operating on a calendar basis with reminder Emails.
  • They can allow other students to join their study groups and interact with them, via their page if they are online (Chat, share documents, collab etc).

We have a team of 11 developers here (6 of them are students) and we hope to set a project scale of 12 - 15months.

Do you think DNN is something that would assist with such a project? If not, do you know anything that will?

Many Thanks - Lucy

x
